A new perinatal center equipped with an MVS Operating Room has opened in Novosibirsk

The perinatal center at the Novosibirsk State Regional Clinical Hospital was opened ahead of schedule. The Hospitaltechnik company has equipped a modern integrated operating room in it, combining the equipment in the operating room into a single multimedia space.

On December 1, an important event took place in Novosibirsk – a perinatal center was opened in the State Regional Clinical Hospital, the construction of which began back in 2013.

The perinatal center consists of four blocks with a height of 6-7 floors, connected by a passage to the main hospital building. It has 213 beds and is designed for four thousand births per year. For comparison, about 2.5 thousand births are now taking place in the regional hospital.

The new regional perinatal center will provide assistance to women with high perinatal and obstetric risk during pregnancy and childbirth, including women suffering from diseases of the reproductive system and infertility.

The center was opened personally by the governor of the region Andrey Travnikov. In an interview, he noted that Novosibirsk until recently remained the only city with a million people without a modern perinatal center. “Today we see an object that is completely ready from a construction point of view. It is necessary, long–awaited, it is great that after many years of epic work it was possible to complete it,” the regional press service quotes Travnikov.

MVS Integrated Operating Room in Novosibirsk

No perinatal center that accepts difficult deliveries can do without an operating room. In the perinatal center of Novosibirsk, a “smart” operating room was created, equipped with a complex of MVS VEGA telemedicine systems from the St. Petersburg company Medical Visual Systems, the distributor of which is the Hospitaltechnik company.

There are 5 medical monitors installed in the operating room: 3 monitors on consoles and 2 monitors built into the wall panels of the medical module. Any images needed by surgeons during surgery can be displayed on the monitors.

An important feature of the digital operating room is its compatibility with all medical video interfaces. Doctors working in the operating room can connect any equipment with video outputs — an endoscopic stand, a patient monitor or digital X-ray equipment and a digital microscope. At the moment, the operating room has already installed lamps with integrated KLS Martin video cameras and an overview camera built into the ceiling panels.

Directly during the operation, the surgeon can connect to the PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System — a system for transmitting and archiving X-ray images) from an indoor monitor, instantly receive all data on previous studies and display images directly from PACS (diagnostic information, X-rays, computed tomography results) on any of the monitors.

In the Integrated Operating Room, video information can be distributed as conveniently as possible for each of the participants in the operation. For example, output four video sources at the same time or a picture in a picture (PiP). The size of each of the images is easily adjustable.

All video data (from cameras, endoscopes, etc.) is archived to a server installed in the perinatal center. Information about the patient and the operating team can be taken both from the hospital’s medical information system and from the operation plan generated in the hospital platform.

The MVS Integrated Operating Room implements all the capabilities in the field of telemedicine, in particular, video conferencing is carried out from the operating room. Using the videoconference mode, doctors can consult with colleagues, transmitting videos externally, and receive recommendations online.

Holding conferences to train new specialists will become more informative and easier thanks to MVS technologies. Video information and comments from surgeons during the operation can be transmitted to any external display media: conference rooms, classrooms and home PCs. This will avoid crowds inside the operating room. If necessary, the conference call can be two-way.
